Mr. Willie Lee Floyd Jr.

Willie Lee Floyd, Jr. was born June 22.1961 to the late Willie Lee Floyd, Sr., and Lucy Carter Floyd in Oakfield TN. He grew up surrounded by love, faith and family values that shaped the kind and gentle man he would become. On May 1, 2025 he peacefully transitioned to his eternal rest. He made his profession of faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Pleasant CME Church. He actively served many years through his youth and young adulthood as a dedicated member of the Sunday School, Usher Board, and Male Chorus. He spent many years working at Chris-Hill Construction Company in West Memphis AR where he was known for his dedication, integrity, and outstanding work performance. He took pride in doing his work well and earned the respect of those around him. Just as he was dependable on the job, he remained steadfast in his love for God and his deep commitment to the life and ministry of the church. In 2017 he united with Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in West Memphis AR under the leadership of Pastor Larry Robinson. Following the legacy of his grandfather Clifford Carter he served as a devoted usher and later became president of the Usher Board. He also led the Security Team and served faithfully on the Pastor’s Aid Committee. Willie’s love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life as he was a tireless supporter of the church often organizing fundraisers, carwashes, and special programs. He had a heart for people. As a church greeter, he went out of his way to make guests feel welcome. He regularly checked in on members who were absent, offering transportation or simply a kind word. He was always ready to lend a hand wherever there was a need. He attended worship faithfully until his health declined. He found joy in grilling, watching his favorite sports teams, and spending time with family He especially enjoyed watching cowboy and karate shows on television. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lee Floyd Sr. and Lucy Carter Floyd, his children, Willie Zachariah Floyd, III and Colicia Raquel Floyd; Grandparents, Clifford and Lizzie Carter, Isaac Bud Bates and Pearline Stitts, and Joanna Chearis Dodd; Aunt, Ira Mae Amour, and Brother-in-law Rev. Billy Joe Liggons. He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Brilma (Brian) Askew, Jackson TN and Jade (Seville) Brooks, St. Louis, MO; Special Friend, Lawanda Aldridge; two sisters Lylia Bethea (Charles) and Elizabeth Ann Floyd-Liggons, Oakfield TN; two brothers, Paul Floyd (Veronica) Selmer TN and John Floyd, Jackson TN; Uncles, Eddie James Jones, and Charles Lewis Jones (Brenda); Grandchildren: Jacob Taylor, Kayla Hoyle, Elijah Brooks; Nieces and Nephews: Koran Floyd, Felicia Harris, Yeri (Jasmine) Bethea, Adrian Davis, Corbyn Davis, Anthony Floyd, Brittany Floyd, Josh Barnes, Billy Joe Liggons, Jr and LaToya Bolden; Great-nieces and nephews: Curare Floyd, Kody Floyd, Koriendy Floyd, Ka’Daesha Triplett, Traivin Lyles, Se’Riyah Bethea, Bryson Jones, Kensli Bethea, Keylan Bethea, Ariel Davis, Norah Ellison, Kassidy Ellison, Chance Davis, Kennedy Patrick, Honesty Beard, Adarius Liggons, Caleb Stokely; special cousins David Moore (Jesse) and Mamie Stitts; close friend Segrid Boddie and numerous cousins friends, co-workers and church members who will miss him dearly. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his servant’s heart, and the love he shared so freely with everyone he met. His legacy of kindness and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
