Mr. Jimmie L. Burton Sr.

. Jimmie Lee Burton was born August 8, 1934, to the union of Odie and Mary Cummings Burton of Finger, Tennessee. At the time of his death, He was the oldest of fourteen siblings. Jimmie professed his life in Christ at an early age. He attended the North Henderson Church of Christ where he was an active and faithful member. He would always instill in his children and grandchildren his love for the Lord. He would often pull out his bible and recite 1 Corinthians 13:11-13. He was educated at the Chester County Training School. Jimmie worked at Freed-Hardeman College for over forty years as the Head Custodian. Later, he became the custodian of the Henderson Church of Christ until his health no longer allowed him to serve. He would also offer his janitorial services in the community, if needed. Jimmie was admired and held in high regard for his work ethic by his fellow coworkers and family. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Odie and Mary Burton; his brothers, Fred Burton and Leroy Burton; his sisters, Nancy Trice, Della Arnold, Mary Beth Burton, Betty Wilson, Ethel Trice, and Nina Sloane; his daughter, Mary Irene Hurde; his son, Jimmie Burton, Jr; and his grandson, Quovadis Trice. Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Elsie Jean Burton of Finger, TN; two daughters, Sherry Ross (Phenix) and Linda Burton of Finger, TN; two sons Willie Jerome Burton and Anthony Jerome Burton of Finger, TN; two sisters, Doris Arnold of Huron, TN and Girtie Arnold of Henderson, TN; seven brothers, Earnest Burton (Shirley) of Finger, TN, Cecil Burton (Belinda), James Burton (Verlene), Harvey Muse, and John S. Burton all of Henderson, TN, Paul Burton of Obion, TN; one son-in-law, Jerry Hurde of Henderson, TN; four brothers-in-law, Willie Wilson of Finger, TN, Charles Wilson (Charlene) and Scottie Wilson (Inez) of Beloit, Wisconsin, Jerry Wilson of Henderson, TN; Grandchildren, Nicole Johnson (Dewond), Michael Burton (Annetta), Gwen Clark-Fiorpiselli (Steven), Kevin Williamson (Tabitha), Ashley Burton, Shereno McBride (Jon), Keely Burton, Jeffery Burton (Erica), Kaylan Campbell (James), Shalita Trice, and Tevin Ross; Great Grandchildren, Tylan, Trevon, Michael Jr, Jakobe, Jayla, DeShaun, Jeremiah, Olivia, Gracie, Skylar, Liberty, Bryanna, Keelan, Marlan, Laela, Loki, Lior, Roman, and Amari; Great-Great Grandchildren, Rozlynn and Aiden; A Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
