Mr. George Ivory Marshall

George Ivory Marshall was born May 7, 1932, in Medon, Tennessee, the fourth child born to the union of the late Elmer G. and Frances March-Marshall. George married Selma Salena Bell on November 29, 1953, in Hollandale, MS., and to this union, 13 children were born. George and Selma were married for nearly 58 years. His loving wife preceded him in death. He had one daughter, Debrah Lynn Marshall-Scurlock, who preceded him in death, as well. George accepted Jesus as his personal savior at an early age in the Church of God in Medon, Tennessee, under the leadership of his grandfather Elder Johnny Marshall. Two sisters, Mary Bell, Earlene Bell, and two brothers, Elmer Lee, James E. Marshall preceded him in death. George attended grade school in Medon, TN. He began his vocation as a farmer. Later, he began work as a truck driver for H.O. Forgy & Sons, where he worked for many years until the company closed. George continued as a truck driver for several trucking companies until he finally landed at Milan Express Trucking Company, where he worked until retirement. During his retirement, he began working for Helton Construction. Throughout the early stages of his working career, George became an ordained minister; he later became pastor of Marshall Chapel Church of God in Medon, TN., until his health failed him. George departed this earthly life on September 30, 2016. He leaves to reflect on his life memories, five daughters, Sandra J. Freeman, South Holland, IL., Wanda G., Camilla L., Jessalyn S. Marshall, Medon, TN; Treila D. Marshall, Tracy, CA., seven sons, Dwight (Gloria), Tracy, CA., Preston (Lori), Corona, CA., Dexter A., Jonesboro, GA., Eric (Angel), Oakland, CA., Jarvis G. (Sonia), Carman S. (Kimberly), Jackson, TN., Markedus D., Medon, TN; twenty-three grandchildren: Kendra, Kamisa, Terrence, Jacquelyn, Gerald, DeKesha, Diandrea, Marsalena, Taryn, Shauna, Aaron, Torriah, Darius, Brandon, Nicholas, Sedarius, Samaria, Selena, Cameron, Sydney, Chancellor, Jarron and Brennan; twenty-two great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby (Matthew) Jenkins, Lathrop, CA., Sadie Jenkins, Wiley, TX., Dorothy (Travis) Herron, Williamson, CA.; five brothers, John L. (Ann), Herman (Betty), Detroit, MI.; Paul (Margaret), Clackamas, OR., Robert (Sharon), Medon, TN., Larry (Jacqueline), Jackson, TN; sisters-in-law: Delores Washington, Richmond, VA., Willie M. Jefferson, Jackson, TN, Marva A. Bell, Dotsie M. March, Geraldine Martin, Madison, TN., & Rev. Dr. Arnetha (Roger) Inge, Los Angeles, CA., brothers-in-law, Printes G, Willie V. (Gene), Jackson, TN., Morris (Marilyn), San Francisco, CA., Donnie (Barbara), Glen Allan, MS., & Terry W. (Debra), Los Angeles, CA.
