Ms. Pearlene Cole Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Pearlene Bills Cole, age 74, was born on August 24, 1947, in Medon, Tennessee to the late Mrs. Flossie Mae Bills Donnell and the late Mr. William Henry Newsome, Sr. She was the firstborn of two through her maternal lineage; as well as the oldest of eight through her paternal lineage. Ms. Cole lived a beautiful Christian life and entered peacefully into eternal rest. In the early morning of June 3, 2022, at The Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Pearlene accepted Christ at the early age of 12, was baptized and united with Medon Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Medon, Tennessee. In 1974, she joined the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Homer Gatlin. She was a dedicated member for over 48 years and served diligently. She loved her church and Pastor, Rev. Ernest Polk, whom she faithfully supported. She was heavily involved with her church. She was formerly the Sunday school record keeper and coordinator for all of St. James’ Sunday evening singing programs. She loved good foot stomping, hand clapping gospel singing; so much that she also sang with The Spirit of St. James and The Lovettes singing groups. Pearlene was a member of W.R. Bell Temple #1249 Daughter of Elks, The Court of Calanthian, and The Order of Eastern Star. She also loved traveling and meeting people through the Pioneers Travel Club. Pearlene and her mother had the opportunity to travel all over the country, as well as many cruises. She participated in several other organizations and groups. Pearlene attended Jackson Madison County Schools and graduated from Merry High School. While attending Merry High School she majored in Cosmetology and received her Beautician License. She continued her education at The Jackson State Community College, until she accepted employment at The Jackson Clinic where she retired after 45 years of service as an Instrument Technician. Pearl was a generous and caring person who dedicated her life to giving and caring about people. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, one paternal sister and brother, and adopted sister Alfreda (Darwin) Parker. Pearlene leaves to cherish her loving memory, her sister, Bobbie Bills of Jackson, TN; two sons: Brandon (Kerry-Ann) Nathan of Jackson, TN, and Andre’ Neal of Nashville, TN. Godmother, Catherine Morton; paternal sisters: Mary Ann (Darnell) Pirtle of Denmark, TN- Jean Willis of Jackson, TN- Debora (Gernot) Halliburton of Milwaukee, WI; two brothers: Algier Newsom of Jackson, TN, and Roscoe (Rosie) Newsom of Springfield, VA; aunt: Lydia Sue Hunt; grandchildren: Natalie, Jason, and Kya Nathan of Jackson, TN; nieces: Melissa (Jacob) Ragland of Clarksville, TN, and Delora (James) Bond of Jackson, TN; nephew: Marty (Callessia) Smith; great niece: Marlisa Smith; great nephews: Julian Baker, Jeremy Jones, and Montae’ Smith, and a host of great-great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
