Ms. Ozzie Butler Brown Groomes Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ozzie Butler Brown-Groomes was born on January 30, 1940 in Humboldt, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late O. D. Butler, Sr. and Viola (Harris) Butler. Ozzie departed from this life into eternal life on Monday, May 24, 2022. God sent his death angel to Jackson, Tennessee to guide her on home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a free spirited person that moved a few times before settling down in Englewood, New Jersey. Ozzie was a true friend to those that she was very close with. She wasn’t a person that held back her thoughts and let anyone within close proximity know how she may have felt at that time. Although initial “guarded” once she meet you, she quickly would become that friend you would endear for a lifetime. She always love to speak to everyone about her immediate family in New Jersey and her immediate Brothers and Sisters that reside across the country. She had applied herself in many vocational opportunities, however her true calling was that of a Home Health Aide. This was a treasured opportunity which enable her to meet and foster a tremendous amount of friendships with all she encountered though her much valued healthcare endeavors. She was a kindhearted person who loved to laugh and have a great time with all! But more so, she loved nurturing her immediate family; two sons and daughter. She was sought a path which would ensure that her children would not be lacking for any opportunity that they would want to embrace. She loved to cook a big family meal every Sunday after attending church to bring everyone together for at least one very good meal of the week!!! Once her Sister, Liz who had reside in Connecticut moved back south; Ozzie developed strong feelings about her youth and growing up in Humboldt! She often reminisced about the tremendous times that she experienced while living in New Jersey, but it was time to go back to her “true” home. She yearned to come back to Humboldt in order to be back amongst her Brothers and Sisters!!! Ozzie was preceded in death by her son and daughter; Stephen Douglas Brown and Tracy Lynn Brown. She had married twice; to her initial husband, Jimmie L. Brown and then years later upon his passing; she remarried to Oscar L. Groomes. Both her Father, O. D. Butler Sr. and Mother, Viola Harris Butler, her family that she so extremely loved ; O. D. Butler, Jr. "Brother", Eula V. Butler, Ardella Butler Collins "Della" also known as "Red", Johnnie M. Johnson, Louise Butler Watts, Elizabeth "Liz" Butler Walker, Arthur "Lee" Butler, Sr., Joe Larry Butler and Linda F. Butler Brown-Warren. She leaves to cherish her memory: Her Son Nicholas A. Brown of Hackensack, New Jersey. Her loving family members; Benny "Ray" (Mary) Butler of Louisville, KY; Geraldine Butler Baldwin Mask "Gerald" of Phoenix, AZ, and Brenda J. Butler of Humboldt, TN. Her lovely and supportive Nephew, Lawrence Edward (Diane) Butler of Henderson, KY, and Nieces, Wesley Michelle Butler of Memphis Tennessee, Gloria A. Butler of Dayton, Ohio and Debra Mayo Johnson of Columbus, Ohio. Ozzie also leaves to fondly remember her, a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous friends and extended family. We are thankful for the precious memories of Ozzie “Bodie” Butler Brown-Groomes and will truly, truly miss her! May you Rest In Peace.
