Joe L. Butler, 71, son of the late O.D. and Viola Harris Butler, departed this life on April 23, 2020 at Walnut Creek Care Center in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on May 26, 1948 in Humboldt, Tennessee. Joe is a graduate of Central High School in Tennessee and attended Ivy Tech Community College in Evansville, IN. He was also a very proud service man of the United States Navy. He retired from Bristol Myers after over 30 years. Joe, was blessed with four children, Monica L. (Anthony) Roach of Easton, Pennsylvania; Tracey L. Butler of Fishers, Indiana; Kwan Z. Butler of Evansville, Indiana; Errol S. (Heather) Butler of Fishers, Indiana. In addition, Joe leaves to cherish his memory a host of grandchildren, Raphael, Ren, Kiara, Antonia, Alexa, Mikayla, Evelyn, Christian and Kendall. Great Granddaughters, Leah, Aubree, Karmen, Averee, Kaliyah, Kylie and Kynlee Butler. He leaves with love his siblings Elizabeth Walker, Henderson, Kentucky; Ozzie Butler Brown-Groomes, Humboldt, Tennessee; Brenda Butler, Humboldt, Tennessee; Geraldine Butler Baldwin-Mask, Phoenix, Arizona; Ray (Mary) Butler, Louisville, Kentucky. Joe also grew up with nephews Lawrence (Diane) Butler; Tyrone Butler; Wesley Epperson and nieces Gloria Butler-Murphy, and Debra Johnson. He also had a host of beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by siblings, Eula V. Butler, Louise B. Watts, O. D. Butler, Jr., Ardella Collins, Arthur L. Butler, Johnnie Johnson & Linda F. Brown-Warren. Joe lost his battle to Alzheimer's disease, LORD said enough my good and faithful servant, come home. He was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church in Humboldt, Tennessee. He loved Humboldt and loved his family. He always looked forward going to Brown-Butler Family Reunion and meeting with his best friends Bruce and Maria Nix at McDonald's for breakfast. He loved to travel, ride his bicycle until his health changed, but then he took up walking.
