Mr. Jimmy McCree Powell was born in Trenton, Tennessee on July 25, 1941, to the late Virginia Powell- Gentry and Ingram Powell. Jimmy departed his life on December 24, 2021, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. He was raised by his grandfather, Jimmy Lee Powell. He was united into holy matrimony in 1972 to the late Dorothy Powell. He attended Rosenwald High School and graduated in 1959, employed by Florida Steel in Jackson, TN until he retired in 2003. A faithful Christian, a true friend to many, a good neighbor, and an inspiration to the community. Jimmy love for his family, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends will forever remain in their hearts. He was kind, unselfish, compassionate, and bossy. He loved life, jazz music, and good food. He coached football, basketball. baseball, soccer, and mentor to many kids from the state of Indiana to Tenn. Jimmy created memories that will last a lifetime. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy Powell and two brothers, Rodney Gentry, Michael Gentry, and sister Linda Faye Gentry. Jimmy leaves to cherish his memories.: Only son: Conchos Powell of Trenton, TN, daughters: Montonia Taylor of Fort Worth, Texas, Myranique Ganaway (Eddie), of Trenton, TN, Angie Powell of South Bend, IN. Siblings: Randall Harris (Victoria) Mary Gentry, Sandra Jones, Sarah Tarver, Charles Gentry, Sister-in Law: Mary Easley, Brother -in Law: Johnnie Lee Johnson. He leaves eight grandchildren: Darius, Latisha, Javaris, Samone, Constance, Shimika, Ja’Quon, Brilee and eight great grandchildren. He loved and cherished his only first cousins: Avery Nell Pollard, Cleo Greer, Diane Fields, Brenda Williams, and Wayne Fields. Host of nieces and nephews and friends.
