Jimmy Larry Freeman was born in Madison County, Tennessee on March 21, 1950, to the late Major Joe Lee Henry Freeman and Madie Walker Freeman. He passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He attended Tri Community Elementary School and graduated from East High School in 1969. He worked for many years at the old Liberty Grocery Store as a manager and then served as a manager at the Community Soup Kitchen. He was a lover of the guitar, and his voice was an instrument!! Boy oh boy, could he “sang” not sing, “SANG”! You would catch him singing in the cotton fields with his head back and his voice booming, he wasn’t stuttering picking cotton. His friends, Geraldine and Tarstein, had a song for him- ‘Jimmy Larry can you CATCH UP?!!!!’ All that talent led him to be a top songster with the Israel Harmonizers. Jimmy Larry was a devoted member of the Tabernacle of David the House of Israel until the time of his death. He married Florence Ward and to this union, one child was born. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Freeman. Left to cherish the memory of Jimmy Larry include: a wife, Florence Ward Freeman of Murfreesboro, TN; two daughters: Shalette Freeman of Murfreesboro, TN and Alethea McNeal; a son: Lamont McNeal; six brothers: Willie Green, Sr. (Earnestine), Lee Henry Freeman, Sr. (Sarah), Major Freeman (Sabrina), Jerry Freeman, Sr. (Florita), Amos Freeman, Sr. (Eleanor) and David Freeman (Loretta); two sisters: Madie Rachel (Mike) and Belynda Freeman all of of Jackson, TN; two grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A special cousin, Veronica Hooper and a special friend, Mary Franklin.
