Mr. James Edward Merriweather

May 4, 1949 - February 27, 2021

James Edward Merriweather, 71 years old, was born on May 4, 1949 in Medon, Tennessee to the late Rozell and Jennie Etta Merriweather. He was the fifth of eleven children, including four males and seven females. James, or he was known as “James The Boy”, entered into Eternal Life on February 27, 2021 at Milan Community Hospital, Milan, Tennessee. Reared with strong Christian values, James accepted Christ as His Lord and Savior at a very early age at Blairs Chapel C.M.E. Church. James was educated in the Madison County School System as a member of the 1968 Class at West High School, Denmark, Tennessee. He became an avid saxophonist while at West High School James was trained as a cement finisher by his Father, Rozell, and worked in the family cement construction business until his health failed. He leaves a large cadre of relatives, representing five generations of children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, who are encouraged to discover and seek to better understand what makes each of us different. He was preceded in death by his parents: Rozell and Jennie Etta Merriweather; siblings: John L. Merriweather Sr., Ira J. Staten and Fannie Mae Merriweather; brother-in-law: George Love. James had three children including Kimberly Merriweather, of Detroit, MI; Gregory Merriweather (Juliette), of Nashville, Tennessee; and Carmen Merriweather Fouche, of San Antonio, Texas. brothers: His Caretakers, Tommie Lee Merriweather, Sr. (Pamela), and Albert L. Merriweather (Mitiz); both residing in Medon, Tennessee; Sisters: Rolene Love and Lou Vata Collins, both of Indianapolis; Mary Helen Taylor (Ret. 1st Sergeant Vernell), of El Paso, Texas; Dr. Teresa Merriweather Orok (Dr. Michael) of Franklin, Tennessee; and Bernice Mosely of Jackson, Tennessee. James also leaves a niece who was much more akin to a sister, Ms. Agnes Staten of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, including Robinson Gregory Merriweather, Madison Ilan Merriweather, Lillian Grace Merriweather (Gregory); and Darius Fouche and Lea Fouche (Carmen). Further, James leaves a significant legacy consisting of more than 140 beloved nieces and nephews that span throughout five generations.
