Mr. James H. McKinney

Mr. James Henry McKinney was born January 15, 1931 to the late Joseph Emmit and Julia McKinney. Mr. McKinney passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Jackson Madison County Hospital in Jackson, TN. Mr. James McKinney’s primary education began at Golden Elementary School here in Jackson. Then, he attended the School for The Blind in Nashville, TN. He later continued his education/training at a School for The Blind in Missouri to obtain a skill for employment. James Mckinney met Annie Ruth Walker in 1956 in Jackson and they were married that same year. They were happily married for 55 years. Shortly after, they moved to St. Louis, Missouri were they both worked for 40 years or more at the Clean Coverall and Supply Company until retirement. James and Annie (which they were fondly called) did not have children, but spent many years traveling and enjoying friends and family in Tennessee and Georgia. James and his wife were members of The Tabernacle of David The House of Israel until their death (Annie died December 1, 2011). He enjoyed his church services and made it known by shouting out “Come on up now!” when he heard his favorite songs by the choir. James McKinney leaves behind his twin sisters, Ebbie Nietha (Earl) Lanier, here in Jackson, TN; two brothers, Thomas (Ernestine) of Jackson and Karl (Ruth) McKinney of Memphis; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
