When the time comes for the evening of this life, and the dawn of our spiritual journey and reward to begin, one could only open and pray that this earthly life reflects a legacy of love and good will in the hearts, minds and memories of those left behind. Flewellen, you left us all that is required for us to finish our course and complete our time on this earth. Flewellen Echols Jenkins was born, September 3, 1933, the third child of Clifton and Victoria Echols. At an early age, she professed a faith in God at Central Baptist Church. She later united with Mt. Olive C.M.E. Church, where she attended with her father. She was a devoted member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Jackson, TN, for over 50 years, where she faithfully served and was responsible for various activities. She attended LaRose Elementary School and was a 1950 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She received her BA degree from Lane College and went on to serve at Lane as the Executive Secretary to four Presidents of the Institution, under the direction of Bishop Chester A. Kirkendoll, spanning over 4 decades. She married Ronnie Bell Jenkins of Clarksville, TN and two children were blessed to that union. She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Elizabeth and Tommie Echols. She leaves to celebrate her life, two children, Kelvin Jenkins and Kendra Flewellen Watkins, both of Jackson, TN; one stepson- Marico (Kim) Gryce; six grandchildren, Jordan Gander of Jackson, TN, Destiny Williams of Murfreesboro, TN, Kamoron Jenkins of Clarksville, TN, Madisyn and Kynslee Jenkins and Macaria Surratt, all of Jackson, TN; one great grandson, Grayson Eskew; three nieces, Shirley Boykin(Jerry) Doss of Harvey, Ill, Vickie Drew Boykin (David) Adams, and Willa Boykin (Jessie) Broom; two nephews, Clifton Echols Boykin and John Flewellen (Palmetra) Boykin; a special close friend who she counted on to assist her whenever and wherever needed, Ruby Williamson and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
