Evelyn Deloris “Jaa” Brooks White was born in Jackson, Tennessee on March 22, 1950, to Isaac Houston Brooks, Sr., and Christine Tyson Brooks. She passed away on November 15, 2021, at 10:00 p.m. She accepted Christ at the early age of 15 years old. Her church affiliation started at Mount Moriah Baptist Church under Rev. Felix Jarmon, Pastor. She later joined Greater St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church and her last church affiliation was with Antioch Baptist Church in Gadsden, Tennessee under the leadership of her brother Rev. Isaac Houston Brooks, Jr. She graduated from Merry High School and later furthered her education earning an A.A Degree at West Tennessee Business College in Jackson, Tennessee. She continued with a 25-year career in Education with Jackson-Madison County School System as Secretary of the Vocational Building at Jackson Central Merry High School. Soon after, Evelyn relocated to Memphis Tennessee where she was ER Unit Coordinator at Baptist East Women’s Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and canning fresh vegetables. As the Matriarch of the Brooks and White Family, she started the love tradition of Family Gatherings by initiating, planning, and executing events for all to attend as well as cooked and served her delicious meals to all. Being with her family and having fun was always her favorite thing to do. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix German White, Sr. and during their union six children were born. She leaves behind to cherish her love and memories, her children: Shelia White (Ron Phillips), Thomas, Felix G. White Jr., Christy (Kenneth) McCroy, Christopher Previn White, Cedric (Chinita) White, Latina (Charles Brent) White; she leaves to cherish her love and memories are her thirteen grandchildren: Corderro Dontye, Jasmine Shanai, Marlin Roy, Felicia LaCheryl, Sara Deloris, Stephen Darrell, Charles Eugene, Roberta Christine, Fabian Shamar, Justin Montel, Jonathan Chace, Precious Breanna, Rain Nevaeh; her great grandchildren are Jordyn Amarii, Carmyn Teniyah, Amarii Auyana, Jayden Alexander, Cairo Khalil, Darius Jamal, Damarious Devon, Jayden Montel and Khadra Renee’. She was the eldest of eight and she leaves to cherish her love and memories her siblings; Isaac Jr. (Ethel), Joyce Ann, Tony Sr. (Pearlie), Donna Carol, Edward Dewayne (Karen), Alisha Bethia, Tina Lashunda (Reginald), and a special friend Mrs. Kaye McBride. She has a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and God children who will also miss her dearly. The Family would like to give a special thank you to her nephew Melvin Armstrong Jr. for always being there for their mother.
