Clotee”Tee” McGee passed away at the, age 78 in Toledo, Ohio on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. She was the first child born to the late James A. McGee, Sr. and Radie Womack McGee on August 29, 1940 in Jackson Madison County, Tennessee. Clotee joined Blairs Chapel CME Church at an early age and was very involved in choir, Sunday School, and the Youth Department. After moving to Toledo, she became a member of Phillips Temple CME Church then, joined New Horizon UMC until it closed. Clotee was an excellent basketball player at West High School in Denmark, Tennessee., where she graduated as Salutatorian in 1959. From there she received a scholarship to Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee where she majored in Home Economics. She received her Bachelor of Science in 1963. She continued her post education to receive her Master’s Degree at Tennessee Stata University. After graduating, Clotee moved north to teach in Chicago, Illinois for 2 years. She then moved to Toledo, Ohio where she taught Home Economics at E.D. Libbey High School retiring in 1997. Although retired, Clotee loved helping others nd sharing what she knew. She taught sewing at a community school in her spare time and was a Crossing Guard for the elementary schools. “Tee” was an accomplished bowler and received many rewards. Many nights she could be found on a lane perfecting her craft. She spent many years with the Glass City Travelers Bowling League, member of Toledo Women’s Bowling Association, and L. G. Caldwell Bowling League. Clotee bowled a near perfect game scoring 299 more than once. Her work as a teacher was important but creating a home for her family meant the world to Clotee. She was an excellent cook and baker. Clotee loved her yard and would spend hours cultivating her flowers and plants. Once retired, Clotee went through training to volunteer at the Toledo Botanical Society. She was preceded in her death by her parents; her husband John E. McGee, Sr.; three brothers: Author A. McGee, Richard “Mac” McGee, and James A. ”June Time” McGee, Jr.; and three sisters: Inez McGee, Hattie “Sweetie” McGee, and Willean McGee. Clotee leaves to cherish her memories daughter Jonellen R. McGee of Cincinnati, Ohio, son John E. McGee, Jr. of Toledo, Ohio, devoted niece Cheryl L. Williams of Toledo, Ohio. Seven sisters: Liz Cleveland, Vivian McGee, Angela Lewis, Augusta M. Jones, Gerelene McGee Owens, Earlene McGee, and Ozzie M. Duffala; four brothers: Rev. Robert L. McGee, Wilbur McGee, Franklin R. McGee, and James L. McGee; three sisters-in-law: Dolores Shorter, Vivian Carroll, and Elena (Leon) Reynolds all of Toledo, Ohio, and one brother-in-law Steve McGee of Long Beach, California; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who loved her dearly.
