Mr. Tom Lewis Sr.

Tom P. Lewis Sr., "Big Daddy", was granted his angel wings on Monday, October 15,2012 at the age of 71. A longtime resident of Humboldt, Tennessee, he spent his final days surrounded by family and friends at Jackson General Hospital. Tom was born on October 2, 1941 in Gibson County. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis. He was the baby of the family out of three children. He accepted Christ at an early age. He was a very dedicated and faithful member of St. James Baptist Church. He attended Stigall High School in Humboldt, TN. He married Quilla Lewis on August 1, 1960 and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage. In 2010, Tom received a letter of recognition from the Chief of Chaplains of the United States Navy for his support, understanding and encouragement of military personnel returning home from combat in Iraq. He loved to fish, hunt, and tell jokes. He was Chairman of the Deacon Board at St James Baptist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge, a licensed HAM Radio Operator and a third degree black belt. Tom's life was a blessing to many; particularly those who were touched by him and understood his strong faith in God, his love for family, church and community. He is survived by his beloved wife for 52 years Mrs. Quilla Lewis of Humboldt, TN; His adored children: Tom P Lewis Jr. of Humboldt, TN; Lettie Bedford(Kevin) of Toledo, OH; Arlene Bright of Humboldt, Tn; Karen McClinton(Jackie) of Humboldt, TN; James Avery(Lisa) of Jackson, TN; Johnnie Lewis(Margie) of Brownsville, TN; Ronnie Lewis of Humboldt, TN; Danny Lewis(Tonya) of Knoxville, TN; Kevitt Thomas of Humboldt, TN. Grandchildren- Chejuan Bright, Shalonda Woolfork, Shaquilla Lewis, Martel Lewis, Ronnie Lewis Jr., Terrance Bright, Raymond Lewis, Robert Lewis, Dominique Lewis, Jessica Mathis, Bernadette Lewis, Cordero Bright, Johnathon Mathis, Dominique Lewis -Dee-Dee, Brianna Lewis, Kevin Bedford Jr., Brittany Bedford, Winter Lewis, Tierra Lewis, Omar Lewis, Savana Lewis, Johnnie Lewis Jr., and a host of Great Grandchildren. He is survived by two siblings Jessie Mae Freeman of Humboldt, TN and Johnnie Faye Welford (Lloyd) of Gary, IN and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Lewis, his brothers, Harrison Jr. Lewis and Rozell Lewis, and his sister Lurlene Lewis in Heaven.
