Ms. Solonia B. Knox

Solonia Beatrice Fitzpatrick was born on March 20, 1932 as the only child to John C. Holt and Betty Fitzpatrick in Pulaski, TN. Solonia, also known affectionately as “Weed” by family and friends because of her slender build, was raised with her sibling Marcus Fitzpatrick. She departed to her Heavenly home on Nov. 19, 2025. Solonia and her brother was mainly raised by her loving grandmother Martha Maxwell Fitzpatrick. Solonia was raised on a farm and has always loved many different animals since she was a child. Church was important to the family and Solonia was baptized at a young age. She attended and graduated from Bridge Forth High School there in Pulaski where she was an avid 4-H Club member. Soon after High School she married Anderson Knox of Jackson, TN in 1952 and became a military wife. To this union was born six children. She and her family moved often due to her husband’s military career, living in many locations across the USA including Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Lincoln, Nebraska; Detroit, Michigan; El Paso,Texas; and finally retiring to Jackson, TN. She attended Vocational training program in Jackson and held several occupations throughout her life including being a cook a nursing assistant, private duty sitter, but most of all being a patient mother of 6 rambunctious children and being a friend to all. Some of the things that interested her were gardening, caring for her pets, cooking and caring for others, playing BINGO, and enjoying her church membership at Rehoboth Baptist Church. In her latter years she enjoyed sitting on her porch watching and waving at people passing by. She was loved and adored by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, her oldest son, Anderson Maurice Knox, her brother, and her ex-husband. She is survived by her sons and daughter: Marcus William “Billy” Knox of Jackson; Kenneth Maxwell Knox (Carrie Ann) of Jackson, TN; Daryl Manuel Knox of Jackson; John Quentin Knox (Patricia) of Kent, Washington; and Marcia Yvette Knox of Orlando, FL. her sister, Stacey Goodman (Sherman), two sisters-in-law; Loudean Knox and Stella Knox, Eight grandchildren: Timothy French (Lena), Kenneth Jamar Knox (Sheena), Candice Knox Nielsen (Darren), Marcus William Knox, Jr, Angelica Knox, Samantha Smith, Quentin, Knox, Patrick Knox; and Joy McCormick (Kelvin) and many great grands, nieces, nephews and cousins.
