Mr. Ozie Pearson Jr.

Bro. Ozie B. Pearson, Jr., age 76, of Jackson, Tennessee, departed this life on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the home of his daughter, Tonya L. Tomlin. He was born on November 21, 1948, in Jackson, Tennessee, the son of the late Ozie B. Pearson, Sr., and Lorine Dixson Pearson. He was educated in the Jackson school system and attended Merry High School, where he was a proud member of the basketball team. At an early age, he obeyed the gospel and became a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Throughout his life, Bro. Pearson worked in many places, including The New Southern Hotel, Fiberglass, Devilbiss, Bruce Lumber Company, the YMCA, and Kroger. Known for his friendly and outgoing spirit, he never met a stranger—if he didn’t know personally, he surely knew one of their family members. After retirement, he continued pursuing his passion for repairing lawnmowers and power tools. He also loved cooking and was especially known for his skill as a grill master. In 1975, Bro. Pearson was united in marriage to the late Bewilda Jean Pearson, and to this joyous union, two children were born. He was previously married to Gerlene Autry Pearson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Mac Chester Pearson, Phillip Winston Pearson, and Willie Edward Pearson; nephew, Steven Green; niece, Tonya Green; two great-nephews, Xavier “Pokey” Clark and Winston Demond Pearson; and two brothers-in-law, Thomas Staten and James Trice. He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Tonya L. Tomlin of Denmark, TN, Ozie B. Pearson III of Jackson, TN, and Bryan Junard Pearson, Sr. (Tammy Wells) of Paris, TN; his three sisters, Barbara L. Hull of Memphis, TN, Phyllis Staten, and Beauton Trice, both of Jackson, TN; six beloved grandchildren, Kennedi Bryanna Pearson of Carol Stream, IL, Atlantis Lanay Pearson, Xavion Junard Pearson, Bryan Zavon Pearson, Jr. of Milan, TN, Rose Pearson, and Faith Alexandria Pearson, both of Jackson, TN; his aunt, LaEunice Martin, and uncle, Earl Dixson, both of Indianapolis, IN. He also leaves three nieces, Tara Ann Person of Memphis, TN, Lorerela Overton Pearson of Jackson, TN, and Edwena Pearson of Iowa City, IA; three nephews, Brandon Pearson (Samuel), Christopher Staten of Jackson, TN, and Henry Shonn McClendon (Letisia) of Shiloh, IL; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. He will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness, humor, and generosity touched the lives of many. His legacy of love, faith, and hard work will live on in all who knew him
