Mrs. Mary C. Ligon

Early Friday morning July 9, 2021, our beloved Mary Cecil Ligon departed this life to ascend into heaven and set at the right hand of the almighty. “Ms. Mary” as she was affectionately called fought the good fight and most assuredly is hearing “well done my good and faithful servant; well done”!! Ms. Mary who was entrusted to Willie and Catherine Ligon since March 31, 1941 until Friday, July 9, 2021. She was born into a God fearing, loving family where going to church was not an option but a requirement. She joined Fairview C.M.E. Church at an early age and remained a dedicated member; lovingly caring for the church until her passing. If you ever attended her beloved church, you may have heard her beautiful soprano voice singing gospel hymns like “Precious Lord” or “If I Can Help Somebody”. Mary Cecil was a devoted, loving, mother to her only child, her son, Kevin Ligon whom she adored and cherished with her very being. Kee, as he is known could do no wrong and he loved her in the same manner. She worked in many capacities at Bells Elementary from a cook to Teacher’s Assistant to crossing guard and did an excellent job with them all. Mary Cecil spent 58 years working with children, teachers, administration and interacting with parents at Crockett Bells City School Systems. She loved what she did and the people she worked with; and they all loved her in return. Her home was known as the “good food” house because she loved to cook and bake. At any time you could find someone at her dinner table whether it was a snack, a slice of her famous lemon pound cake, her pecan pie, or a six course Sunday dinner she enjoyed doing it all with love. Mary Cecil was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, auntie, work colleague and friend. She is now rejoicing in Heaven with all her loved ones who preceded her into the Kingdom: her devoted father and mother, Willie Ligon and Catherine Ligon; her beautiful granddaughter, Vitina Ligon; her brothers, Elmer Dean Hooks, Sammy Searcy, James Searcy and Isaac Searcy. Mary Cecil leaves to rejoice in her beautiful memories: her devoted, beloved son, Kevin Ligon; his wife, Phyllis Ligon (TN) whom she loved like a daughter and who also was devoted to her; her Grandson, Brandon (Natasha) Ligon(TX) and her Great Grandchildren; Kamauri, Brandon, Jr., Aiden and Anthony, Jr. Her Sisters, Katie Searcy Taylor (TN); Brenda (James) Reddick (TN); Linda (B. J.) Godwin (TN);; Catherine (Lawrence) Butler, KY; Hattie (Leonardo) Gibson, WI, Judy Bond (CO), and Tina Davis (MD) Her Brothers; Ernest (Della) Ligon (TN); Willie (Kristi) Ligon IN; Frazier (Jerry) Searcy (MN) Mary was also blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues and friends.
