Mrs. Gayle Goodman Murphy

Hot summer day July 11, 1963 and you are born beautiful, deep dimpled to James and Frances Goodman. Nothing was ever quite the same because of your boundless energy and inquisitive nature. You were the baby, not spoiled just "privileged" to go on every fast food restaurant run with Mama and Daddy, movie night and where ever else they decided to go because you thought you were supposed to go. "Why Not? was your way. We didn't find out you went until we were grown. Growing up, childhood fun, living on Laconte Street was the joy of Gayle's life. We talked about it all the time. We got our foundation there. Learned how to deal with others, treat your neighbor as yourself, mind your own business, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, love, and laugh it is good for the soul. Gayle wanted to have a Laconte Street reunion. Her friends were lifetime friends. Going to Nadine's grocery, getting a chicken sandwich from Parham's, the coldest drink in town from Marshall's were great memories. Gayle attended Jackson Central-Merry High School where she met the "legendary" Ricky Murphy. They dated throughout high school and it was no ordinary love. They married when she was 18 and were an example of being in love to the end. 34 years of laughter and love. They lived all over Arkansas, Oklahoma, Istanbul Turkey, San Pedro, California. Gayle acclimated well to each place developing great relationships, wonderful friendships, great jobs, but her priority was always her family. She sought God continuously… How can I be the best wife to Rick? How can I be the best Mother? The best daughter to Mom and Dad? How can I be your best example of servant hood? How can I be love to my friends? Gayle was called to be a servant for God a minister of his Word. She was faithful in ministry, faithful in study, diligent in prayer, worship, praise, consecration. She was often seen on the television broadcast ministering the Word of God. She loved her church family at Abundant Life. If you are Gayle's facebook friend, there are mainly recipes she shared them to keep up with them. She loved good food. She would only give a restaurant one chance. If the food wasn't good she would use her famous line "They popped me down!" Life Legacy Continued… She loved music, laughing, cutting up, sweets, babies, you tube videos, and beautiful décor. Family meant everything to Gayle. Ricky, Ronnie and Lauren said her greatest lessons were: 1. Walk the right path in life 2. Be a doer of doer of the Word 3. Be a blessing to others 4. Enjoy life to the fullest while being a doer of the word 5. If you run out of money this time you better have a plan As a grandmother of eight, she kept her grandbabies for the entire summer. She wanted them to spend time in church, experience camp, amusement areas, fun with their cousins, she always said I have to teach them their prayers and confessions. She was the Aunt kids dream of she kept Jaden when Nickie went back to work, ate lunch with Joe Michael at school, picked up Jacob, rocked Janelle and Joseph to sleep and always had snacks and candy for all of them. She was unsurpassed, as a daughter, no Mother could ask for better love and support. No sister could ask for a better friend. No brother a more devoted sister. Her BEAUTIFUL SMILE was signature and she always called you Pumpkin. When Gayle was around joy was in the room. Love and missed by her sons Ricky (Julia) Murphy, Ronald (Charity House) Murphy; daughter, Lauren Murphy; mother, Mrs. Frances Goodman; brother, James (Tonya) Goodman; sister, Cheryl (Michael) Brady; grandchildren, Ricky, Jada, Jade, Kaden, Kaleb, Kallie, Kamryn, R. J. Murphy; mother in law, Mrs. Dorothy Ware; nieces and nephews, Nicole (Jason) Oggs, Joseph (Kimberly) Britt III, Shelbie Brown, Michael (Jocelyn) Brown, Ronald McGhee II, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Ricky Murphy; father, James T. Goodman Jr.; brother, Ronald McGhee .
