Ms. Frances Lucille Robertson

Frances, the youngest and tenth (10th) child of the late Detroit and Ruth Robertson was born on May 14, 1957 in Henderson, Tennessee and completed her journey January 5, 2016 in Prairie View, Texas. Frances was a 1975 graduate of Chester County High School. She furthered her education at Tennessee State University graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Frances was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. where she pledged while an undergraduate student at Tennessee State University; she remained a devoted member. Frances at the time of her passing, was a thirty-four year career employee at Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View, Texas where she held numerous positions including Payroll Services Supervisor and Assistant Manager for Budget and Payroll. She was a member of Progressive Baptist Church in Hempstead, TX. She was an independent, free spirit and strong willed person who enjoyed life and her friends. She was profoundly dedicated to her work. The following comments from Emma Joahanne Thomas-Smith, Provost Emerita-Prairie View A&M University are illustrative of Frances' dedication. "I want the family to know that I am extremely heartbroken to have to witness the loss of Ms. Robertson...she was part of the Tennessee Mafia" who blew in to clean up our weak fiscal operations...they came and they conquered..it is difficult to appreciate how much work people have done when they are finished and all is well.' Frances was remembered by her colleagues and friends at a Memorial Service at Prairie View A&M University on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. The tributes and loving memories attest to a dedicated and well respected employee and friend who is truly missed. She is remembered by her brothers and sisters, D.J. and Janice, Jessie and Minnie, Willie Lee, Darlene Jones, Paul and Diane and Carolyn A. Johnson. Special cousins Sylvia K. Arnold and Jenny Howard Brown. She is also lovingly missed by dear friends: Aaron Watson, Loretta Burkes, Larry Watson and Deborah Dungey, in addition to several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins. She was preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy Earl and Lawrence and sister Mary Magdalene in addition to her parents.
