Ms. Belynda Gayle Freeman

Belynda Gayle Freeman was born on August 24, 1967, to the late Major Joe Lee Henry Freeman and Madie B. Walker Freeman. Twinkie, as she was fondly called by her family and friends, departed this life on April 20, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a brief illness. She was 57 years old at the time of her passing. She was raised with strong values and a close-knit family that loved her beyond measure. Twinkie was educated in the Madison County Schools and graduated from Northside High School. A woman of quiet strength and sincere generosity, Belynda may not have been a big talker to the public, but to those she loved, she gave them the business. Especially her youngest brother, David. They stayed into it, lovingly of course, and she often told him “Stop acting like a nut!” It goes without saying how her sister, Madie Rachel stood beside her. They were more than just “sisters.” They were thick as thieves, inseparable from the start. Belynda had a well-known love for fashion and adored shopping for clothes. Her elegance and individuality shone brightly always. She was a dutiful member of The Tabernacle of David, The House of Israel. Her heart was wide open, and she gave freely-through kindness and love. It was evident in how she lived, with grace to the very end. Belynda was preceded in death by her brothers: Robert Lee Freeman, also known as, “Big Brother” and Jimmy Larry Freeman, better known as “Aunt (pronounced Ain’t) Sealy Dean.” She is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Willie Green, Sr. “Willedward” and “Parlee” (Earnestine), Lee Henry Freeman, Sr. “Pig” (Sarah), Major Delando Freeman “Rabbit” (Sabrina), Jerry Freeman, Sr. “Doll Baby” (Florita), Amos Carl Freeman, Sr. “Boo Boo” (Elenor), David Wayne Freeman, Sr. “Joe Lewis” and “King David” (Loretta), and Madie Rachel Freeman Sesson “Sister” (Micheal), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Among her family, two special nephews held her whole heart- Adrian Freeman and Cory Freeman. Belynda will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her. Her legacy, sweetness, spiciness and quiet strength lives on in every life she touched.
