Ms. Kathaleen Evelyn "Mama Kat" Swift

On Thursday, October 1, 2015 on of God's children Mrs. Kathaleen Evelyn "Mama Kat" Swift, was called to rest. Her mission completed, her journey ended, her rest well earned. She was born on December 27, 1940 to the late Nathaniel & Martha Smith. She was married to the late George Edward Swift for 36 years and to this union three children was born. "Mama Kat" professed her hope in Christ at an early age and she loved the Lord. She was a Prayer Warrior, she ministered to all she came in contact with about the spirit of love, peace, and untity. She had a life sayings: I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST THAT STRENGTHENS ME and EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT. She was active and faithful member of the Key’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Israel CME in Gary, Indiana and New Life in Christ Church in Lexington, Tennessee, were she served faithfully until her health failed. Mrs. Swift was employed with Chuck Wheelers KFC as a store manager, United States Steel Mill and Krystal’s. Mrs. Swift was a member of the Friendship Club, she loved to cook, read, shop and play with her grandchildren. Mrs. Swift was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Swift; and one sister, Essie Moffitt. Mrs. Swift was a devoted and dedicated Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sibling and friend. Mrs. Swift leaves to cherish her memory, three children, a devoted son, Gregory (Ella) O’Neal Swift; a cherished daughter, Sonia Cherita (Barry) Bernard; a loving son, Brandon Michael Swift. She also leaves seven sisters, Zelma Jean Yancy, Rosetta (MacDonald) Craig, Josephine Harmon, Vivian Hart, Lois Delk, Gail (Charles) Hopewell and Alice (Terry) Butler; three brothers, William Patrick Smith of Los Angeles, California, Ralph Smith and Raymond (Kathy) Smith; five sisters-in law; a very special sister in law, Alma Swift Bowman; Marjorie Oxford, Mary Francis Swift, Pauline Steele and Gloria Anderson; four brothers in law, Donald, Danny Eddie and Maurice Anderson; eleven grandchildren, Adonis Swift, Ayodele (Chelcie) Oseni, Allie Davis, Kalan Hayes, Bryan (Shelby) Bernard, Courtney Bernard, Chazz Swift, Aderius Swift, Brianna Swift, Kaylee Swift and Addison Swift; one great grandchild, Avery Oseni; a very special cousin, Valerie Sanders, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
