Ms. Jenell Hill

Jenell Hill, 87 years of age, was born on December 7th, 1936, in the Mercer, Tennessee community to the late John Ira Hill and Pearline Cobb Hill. She was the oldest of twelve siblings which two sisters, May Helen and Pamela Harris and two brothers, James Hill and Joe Hill preceded her in death. She departed this life on June 28, 2024, at Northbrooke Healthcare and Rehab into eternal rest. Jenell confessed her belief in Jesus Christ at an early age. She accepted Christ at Jones Chapel CME Church. She later united with New St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at 38 Labelle Street in July of 1993 under the leadership of Pastor Dennis E. Blalock, whom she truly loved and respected. Jenell was a faithful servant and was part of the march from LaBelle to the church current location in January 1994. She remained a faithful member until health limited her ability to attend Sunday worship. Jenell was educated in the public school system in Mercer, Tennessee. Although the mother of one, she was like a second mother to so many and blessed to be a babysitter and caregiver for over twenty children where she provided love, guidance, and nurture throughout those years. She was also the caregiver for her dear sister, Pearlie Mae whom she loved dearly. She also raised Rachel and Tyrone Hill, her niece and nephew as her own. Jenell was always there whenever her family needed her to help, give advice or just to listen, mostly with a smile. She had a loving and kind spirit with strangers and always had a smile on her face even when she was not at her best. She had a quiet strength with a big heart. Mourning her loss are five generations, her only loving daughter, Esther Bold; granddaughter, Temicka Barksdale (Chris); great granddaughter, Takahyla Cole; great-great grandson, Legend Taylor; niece & nephew, Rachel Hill and Tyrone (Stephanie) Hill; six sisters, Pearlie Mae Hill of Jackson, TN, Delois Fleming, Bernice Wilkes, Verlene Bishop, and Shirley Kemp all of St. Louis, MO, and Joyce Leach of Arizona; one beloved brother, Larry Hill of St. Louis, MO; special friends, Sue Ella Douglass and Wilma Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
